So Gary Taubes in his new book, Good Calories Bad Calories,  writes that we should all stay away from 'bad carbs', the starchy carbs with a high glycemic index, and favor a high protein diet to keep our blood sugar normal and for all around good health as well.  Dr Peter D'Adamo who wrote the Blood Type Diet series starting with Eat RIght 4 Your Type, claims that's ok for "O" types but not necessarily good if you are an A type.

I have had pain in my knee for 12 years. This pain was due to an injury at work. Less then one week on the diet and the pain is gone. Also I have hypothyroidism. In three weeks I have lost seven pounds. This may not sound like a lot, but every other diet has failed. Plus I feel great.
