Yoga In 5 Minutes-Lose Weight & Get Fit

Sun Salutation-I seem to be focusing on the energy of it all lately.  To explain a little further,  this exercise is a series of movements connected with the breath.  If you don't have time to get into doing yoga regularly, this one exercise can really make a big difference in toning and strengthening your whole body and it takes a few minutes a day to practice it.

It has given me more flexibility, balance and definitely more energy.  In the area of fat or weight loss, especially around the middle, watching my carb load(glycemic) plays a huge part.  Monica Neave, Bellaonline's weight loss editor, says it clearly:

High glycemic carbs cause blood sugar to rise at a faster rate, and to stay high for longer periods. This signals your body to secrete insulin to lower blood sugar to normal levels. All the excess sugar then gets stored in the fat cells, which in turn prevents fat burning. So any time you eat a large amount of high glycemic carbs in one sitting you are training your body to become a fat storage machine.

Here are two videos on Sun Salutation.  The first one is with Dashma Gordon outdoors in Florida.  The second one, from Yoga Garden in Portland, Oregon, goes into more detail on each pose.  Each one adds an interesting dimension to Sun Salutation.  Remember, it takes only a few minutes a day to do this one exercise.  You don't have to be perfect!
